I am passionate about life, work, helping others, and exploring the world.
I grew up in a warm and loving family. My best friends were my parents, who lived an extraordinary love story. I also had the benefit of four grandparents, an aunt and uncle and their four children, six great aunts and uncles, and more. My first priority in life is to continue my family. My next priority is to be surrounded by many true friends.
When I was growing up in a small town, I did not imagine that I would have a role in ending the Cold War, or helping to rebuild countries and regions devastated by war and natural disaster, or assisting in protecting America against more terrorist attacks, or protecting our future by empowering new strategies for sustainabiity. But I did. More to come!
What I have witnessed in Washington is a substantial lack of empathy for the challenges most Americans are facing. Through numerous roundtables, I have been fortunate to bring key stakeholders together to identify real solutions to problems. But I am not content with this, even though it has been very successful. I am embarking on new strategies to directly make the lives of others better.
Some of my most cherished moments in life have been the people I have met and God’s natural wonders I have seen during my travels to 48 U.S. states and 53 countries. As President Kennedy stated,
“In the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s futures. And we are all mortal.”
William Samuel Loiry was born on September 25, 1958 in Washington, DC. He is the son of the late Dr. David Loiry and the late Carol Loiry.
William Loiry founded Equity International in 1995. After publishing the first U.S.-East European business guide, Loiry played a pivotal role in the creation and improvement of capital markets and banking in Central/Eastern Europe.
In January of 1996, Loiry organized the first conference on the reconstruction of post-war Bosnia. Since then, he has continued to bring together thousands of government officials, business leaders, and humanitarian experts to find solutions for the reconstruction and development of distressed areas of the world, including post-war Kosovo; other areas of the Balkans; Central America following Hurricane Mitch; Turkey following deadly earthquakes; Venezuela following massive flooding; Afghanistan beginning in 2002; and Iraq beginning in 2003.
In 1998, following the bombings of American embassies in Africa, Loiry organized the first conference on the threat of Osama bin Laden to American companies overseas. Since 2002, he has brought together thousands of government and military officials, business leaders, and homeland security experts to identify funding and find solutions in biodefense, transportation security, mass transit security, critical infrastructure protection, emergency communications, community preparedness, and global security. At the 2004 Homeland and Global Security Summit, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge was the keynote speaker.
Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, William Loiry organized four major reconstruction conferences.
In March of 2008, Loiry and his firm were a major organizing partner for the Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC), an historic State Department-hosted event which brought together almost 9,000 Delegates from 119 countries.
